A Dynamic Model for Laminated Piezoelectric Microbeam

Piezoelectric beams are widely used in micro-electromechanical systems. At the microscale, influence of size effect on a piezoelectric beam cannot be ignored. In this paper, higher-order elasticity theories considered to predict behaviors micro-structures and size-dependent dynamic model laminated microbeam is established. The governing equations for derived using variational principle. natural frequencies microbeams obtained by models. results reveal that can enhance structural stiffness at microscale. frequency classical smaller than model. Compared with modified couple stress model, underestimates response. Thus, simplification strain gradient thickness also discussed. With increasing thickness, models gradually approaches result If value h/l greater 15, neglected. Additionally, relative frequency, if 5 or less −5, bilayer simplified single-layer beam.
